Way Back Inn + St. Stephen Housing Association
We are thrilled to share an important and exciting announcement! After thoughtful consideration and extensive planning, Way Back Inn merged with St. Stephen Housing Association on November 30, 2024 to form a united organization that will better serve our shared mission of providing essential housing support to those in need.
Why We Merged?
This merger allowed us to strengthen our impact and expand our services. By joining forces, we will:
Broaden Our Reach: Together, we can serve more families and children in need of supportive housing and recovery services across our communities. Combined we’ll now have 27 units for families with children. This will also allow us the opportunity to expand by an additional 4 units through future development.
Enhance Efficiency: Streamlined operations will allow us to make better use of resources, ensuring more of your donations and our efforts go directly toward improving lives.
Increase Sustainability: The merger strengthens our financial footing, allowing us to grow and adapt to the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
Both Way Back Inn and St. Stephen Housing have a long history of supporting vulnerable populations. By combining our Board, expertise, resources, and passion, we will be able to do even more to meet the growing demand for safe, stable, and supportive housing.
What Does This Mean To Our Supporters?
We want to assure you that the work & community impact that you supported us with will continue without interruption. The same dedicated staff and Board members will be here to assist the families in our programs, and all current programs will remain in place, with plans to expand over time.
Your ongoing support will be more important than ever as we transition into this exciting new chapter. Together, we’ll continue to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families struggling with housing insecurity and recovery challenges.
Thank You for Your Support
We’re grateful for your trust and partnership, and we’re excited for what the future holds as we embark on this journey together.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Commitment
Our steadfast commitment is to cultivate a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible environment across all facets of our mission, which is to support families navigating housing instability and homelessness. We firmly believe that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves a secure and nurturing space while they journey towards stable housing. Our organization is dedicated to a continuous process of learning, growth, and accountability in our efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). We pledge to confront and dismantle systemic barriers, deeply value the unique experiences of each person we serve, and ensure that our programs champion principles of fairness, respect, and equal opportunity. As we strive to establish a welcoming community where families with children experiencing homelessness can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope, we bear a profound responsibility to foster a community where diversity is celebrated, equity is realized, inclusion is ingrained, and accessibility is guaranteed.
